Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) is an integral part of an organization’s overall management system. It consists of a full set of management processes to establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain and improve the organization’s business continuity, identify potential threats to the organization and the impacts such threats may impose on business operations once they occur. This process provides a framework for organizations to build self-recovery capabilities to effectively respond to threats, so as to safeguard the interests, reputation, brand and value-creating activities of key interested parties. Centered on information technology, it ensures sustained business operation and covers multiple disciplines including risk management, disaster recovery, incident management, security management, knowledge management, crisis communication and public relations. It strengthens enterprises’ risk prevention capacity, enables effective responses to unplanned business disruptions, mitigates adverse impacts and supports sound corporate development.

The certification basis for Business Continuity Management System Certification is ISO 22301:2019. It applies to all public and private organizations of all sizes across all industries, and is particularly suitable for sectors operating in high-risk and highly regulated environments, such as the financial, IT & telecommunications, and manufacturing industries.
