Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly applied in all sectors relying on information technology and is poised to become one of the core economic driving forces. However, AI also brings multiple risks, mainly manifested as follows:

Large-scale collection and utilization of data may endanger personal privacy and trigger privacy leakage incidents;

Opaque algorithms and data analysis may lead to unfair treatment of specific groups or individuals;

Concerns over the safety and controllability of algorithm operation, along with the liability allocation for losses caused by out-of-control algorithms.

In December 2023, ISO issued the world’s first artificial intelligence management system standard, ISO/IEC 42001. Tailored for entities that provide or use AI-based products and services, this standard sets out requirements for organizations to establish, implement, maintain and continually improve an Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS), so as to realize the responsible development and application of AI systems.
